[SOLVED] slide show

Postby joeclem111 » Jul 26th, '13, 01:02

Hi, I would love to know about the photos used for the slide showscreen saver in Maggy 2. I would particularly like info on where the stone building is, the one with the large stones beside it and the chimney in the distance and the other one is the sunset skyline of the city. Can anyone provide this info please?

Looking at this I thought that the image you were looking for was one of mine, but it isn't, I must have been feeling very selfless when I did the screenies as there are none from me there.

Your best bet is to look on the artwork drop on flickr, http://www.flickr.com/groups/mageia-art ... 774798022/

If it was for mga1 or 3 I would be of more help, but the artwork collection wa split up for 2 which makes tracing it a little harder.

I thank you so much for your efforts. The flickr page is excellent and contains some photos from my slide show but not the 2 I wanted. If you know where there are any more I would be grateful. If you know the path to where the photos are stored on my system that might help, if not, you have been a great help and, once again, my thanks.

slide show screen saver

Postby joeclem111 » Jul 31st, '13, 11:02

I am running Mageia 2 with KDE4 desk top. I have the screen saver set to slideshow. Does the slide show display photos held in a library? If it does, what is the path to the photos? If not, how does the slide show work? I want to identify specific details of a couple of the scenes in my slide show and various attempts to do this have failed, such as flickr, which has some of my scenes but only a couple. If there are Maggy 2 scenes held elsewhere, can you point me in the right direction please?

You asked that already in viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5668 no?
Why did you create a new thread?

EDIT doktor5000: Merged with existing thread.

What you want could be partly located in /usr/share/mga/screensaver/
and its default settings can be found under /var/lib/mageia/kde4-profiles/common/share/config/kslideshow.kssrc

I did a new thread because nobody replied to my last question. I thank you for the paths. The first one holds 9 .jpg images which are my slide show. Unfortunately, there is no info on the photos, just the shots themselves. Any idea where I can find info on each shot such as where it is etc.? The second path is the config file but no info. Thanks for the pointer to the path

Read again viewtopic.php?p=38398#p38398
If artwork team doesn't know more about the photos, and nobody knows the photographer,
then maybe there are no more details about those.

Best bet is to use Google Picture search. https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=de&tab=wi
Click on the camera icon in the search field, upload the picture you want to know more about and let google search for this picture.

Screensaver image sources

Postby ihowarth » Aug 9th, '14, 21:58

I've just been admiring the images than come packaged as default with Mageia 4, with the mageia-theme-Default-screensaver rpm. I couldn't find any details of the images (locations, photographers) - is this documented anywhere?

Yes it is. Merged your thread into the existing thread, just read from the beginning.

Thanks, dok! Though it's not clear to me that the information i was after (photographer, location) is actually "documented"....i can see it in any of the files that come in the rpm; the Mg4 images aren't on the flickr page cited above (although that does contain some really lovely images); and Google Images doesn't find any of the first 4 images (at which point i gave up). So i'm none the wiser, really (and my impression of the old Mg2 thread above is that there's not really an answer there either, unless i've overlooked something).

It's a shame, these are really beautiful images and it would be nice for the photographer(s) to have more easily accessible credit.

For mga4 I should be able to help, although nearly all the images come from the mga 4 flickr drop.

Which ones are you wondering about?

Ah, i think you've largely addressed my query, just by planting the "mga 4 flickr drop" thought - somehow i hadn't picked up on this, but looking at the flickr page at least gives some information, for some images. Too bad that peope dropping images there often don't identify the locations :(

Yeah it is a shame that its rarely complete, if the image isn't on flickr, it is most likely from me, in which case it will either be Germany or Scotland.

Before I say for sure I would need to see the specific images, but as I recall yes they are.
