z68 motherboard with Linux?

Postby hawaleeya » Apr 27th, '13, 12:43

Can I use a z68 motherboard with Linux? I want to be able to run Slackware, Salix OS, Mageia, and a few other distributions. What motherboard are you using and/or and which ones do you recommend? If you know of any problems with these boards with Linux.

Hi,
I have a Intel DZ68DB mother board. It works fine now, but I had to update the bios because there was sometime freezes when an USB key was connected. The problem is that all the available ways given by Intel to update the bios need Windows!

Uhmm, you can just put the bios image on a flash drive, and use the in-BIOS tool to flash the image ... ;)
Done that a hundred times.

If I remember correctly, there was six ways to update the bios on the Intel web site. Each of them needed Windows at least for uncompress the bios image. May be you used a seventh way.
