Difference between Mageia 2 and Cauldron

Postby hal8000 » Apr 9th, '13, 19:07

I've just installed Mageia2 from the Live Cd 32bit and have a working system with accelerated graphics (catalyst fglrx) module.

I am confused on what or how to upgrade to "Caudron"

According to distrowatch Caudron has latest KDE 4.10 and slightly newer packages,

http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mageia

The version I am using now, will this eventually become Caudron or is it a matter of changing
reposirories or media sources in software management?

Thanks in advance.

Cauldron will become Mageia 3 - due to be released early in May. (It will be possible to upgrade from Mageia 2 to 3, using any of a number of possible methods.)

Cauldron is the development version and is not recommended for users new to Mageia. Beta 4 of Mageia 3 has just been made available:

For cauldron itself you may want to look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Cauldron
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
