As a newcomer to Mageia I was surprised and dissapointed to find that one has to install basic print programs like CUPS and Gutenprint after installation.
Surely most distros include these programs in their initial installation. Why does Mageia not do this.

When you run set up printers with the Mageia Control Center (Hardware/Setup the Printers...) it will automatically download and install Gutenprint, CUPS and most everything else you may need. This is a better way to do it since, if you do not have a printer, you are not forced to install all this software.

Other question would be, which media did you use for installing Mageia?

I installed from a DVD. First time I installed it , I followed this method, but it only recognised one of my printers. I had to re-install, as my HD formatting got in a muddle, as I tried to revive an all ready installed Ubuntu which was not coming up in my GRUB. So I've reinstalled Mageia as my sole OS.
I would have thought that most users have a printer and getting these printer files installed on installation would make it much easier for a newbie trying Linux for the first time, or even someone migrating from Ubuntu or Mint like myself.
