Two things, that have been told over and over and over and...

  • It is never a good idea to mix packages from different distributions! That's especially true for cooker because of Mandriva's rpm5 move! If you want to break your system by any means neccessary: go ahead!
  • We did not import blindly every package from Mandriva repos (which in parts wouldn't have been possible, since they are not building fro years now and are just pulled from former releases), we did import and build, what we thought is needed and what people told us filing an "rpm package request" in our bugzilla.
And: we told numerous times to go there and file a request.

Please file one request per neededpackage!

Just out of curiosity, if a bugzilla package request has ben filed, and the request is granted, do we need to wait for the next system update? Or can we constantly, blindly (as in, we have no idea when it will show up), update the repos list and at some point the package will be found?

What do you mean by "the next system update"?

Those packages will be added to the backports repositories, when they are done. Normally the packager should resolve the bug report, so you will get an email about it...
