Hi,

The question of MAM was already discussed somewhere. (Dunno where)

Currently Rpmdrake is really a good tool : it is quite fast, and is adapted for both normal and experienced users (unlike ubuntu software store for example). Improving Rpmdrake and DrakX tools is the thing to do.

MAM is fun, but is clearly aweful, and not very intuitive. I think that importing it is not the priority (but hacking it a little but might be very interesting). And I still does not find where the sources are ...

EDIT : here is the thread about MAM

Also, people should keep in mind that the release is very near, and we no longer touch to the distribution. Anything should be done after the release, for Mageia 2. We will also have lots of discussion about release model, etc.

Also, regarding MAM, I didn't found a tarball besides the one in Mandriva source rpm, so maybe it is the sign this is not ready yet to be used ?
I also fear this would too heavyly depend on some specific low level component, and so it would be better to push everything on packagekit ( see the appstream project we discussed past in January ( http://www.osnews.com/story/24330/Major ... tion_Store )

Yep, MAM is yet only a better mock-up and is not used in Mandriva. We can think and talk about it, if Mandriva is using it and we (the user) can test and evaluate it. Until then, there is no need to replace a good working tool with something not yet finished.
