Question about MythTV

Postby mark9117 » Dec 8th, '11, 21:35

Okay, the system drive in my HTPC failed this morning. That's a bad thing, but it offers the opportunity to start moving my servers from Mandriva to Mageia. I really liked Mandriva, but it looks as if the future lies with Mageia, so I would like to start heading that way.

The issue is that my htpc is kind of critical to my life (stop judging me). I need to know that the mythtv packages in the repo are solid. I found this bug about the Hauppauge pvr-150 (my card)that seems to be resolved: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1831. Is anybody out there using MythTV under Mageia (rel 0 or 1)? If anybody has setup MythTV under Mageia, I'd like to hear what the experience was like. I'm looking at hours of pain getting this thing back up and running like I want it to, and no, there was no backup (I said stop judging me).

What do you know out there?

Thanks.

Mark

I've been running MythTv since analog days on Mandriva and now with Mageia. The packages, so far, have been solid. Updating in short was done just by fresh install of Mageia + transferring mysql databases to new installation and making sure that different brand tuners were loaded in old setup order. I even compile MythTv from git sources every month to one of my machines and have had no problems with dependencies.

Thanks for the input. I will most likely install mageia on the htpc and see what I will have to do to get my mythweb server (Mandriva 2010.1) to offer up remote scheduling goodness.

I'll probably be back for more tech support.

Thanks again

Thanks for that Denis. I suspect you have an access issue with your web server. I've been there and done that. Good luck with it and consider subscribing to the Apache support mailing list.

I am kind of dead in the water on this for now. The 1 TB drive I ordered is faulty and has to be replaced. I'll probably be on it around New Years. :)
