Mageia "update-pack-like-repo"

Postby dave » Nov 24th, '11, 15:49

I was thinking it might be interesting to open a repository similar to the update pack available on LMDE. Couldron is the test repo and is rolling release, so why not propose a channel that releases the cauldron updated packages but when they are considered stable? Of course this is a thought that came to me at random, shared or not, but so we can have a rolling repo without some kind of difficulty.

mageia cauldron yes is rolling but for developers testing before release to stable main edition. I use stable and testing iso or boot.iso for help mageia community to finding bugs and later send the bugs to report ;) .

Put all your time and energy into testing the latest Alpha for Mageia 2, and please bring up as much input for having a next great mageian release.

In fact I was thinking of switching to cauldron, however, thought that a repo resulting from cauldron could be an interesting thing.

Why not install both cauldron and 1 ?
Having a sort of "backport Cauldron" may lead to some problems that brings much more work to QA / bugsquad teams.
Or maybe you can find what you want in the backports ?

There will be no such thing, not in the near future. The only thing that has a similar intention are Backports.
When backports are finally opened, then you will get new versions of many applications.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
