Question about Bugzilla

Postby gideon » Sep 7th, '11, 00:28

Hi, just browsing through Bugzilla and I'm noticing none of the tickets ever update their status. They are all set to "new".

Is there a reason none of them get closed?

I think you see 1.249 non closed bugs.
The highest bug number is 2.657.

The standard view in bugzilla shows the non closed bugs.

Yes, normally you see only the bugs that are Open (meaning status set to "New", "Assigned" or "Reopened")
You can see this when you use the simple search https://bugs.mageia.org/query.cgi?format=specific or
the complete search dialog: https://bugs.mageia.org/query.cgi?format=advanced
BTW: You are free to help solve all those bugs :)

Just promise me you'll actually do something about the bugs, unlike Mandriva? I posted bugs on Bugzilla a full year and a half ago and recently got emails telling me they were deprecated by the release of new versions of the software. Seems like they never did anything about the bugs.

Well, have a look at:

1.249/2.657, I guess that does a bit more than 50% solved bugs. So we do _something_ about the bugs.
Still, sometimes the devs have no clue for certain bug reports and they may be untreated. Or they lack time, and eventually new releases of a software solve the bug.

Also we only consist of volunteers doing this in their spare time, and noone working full-time on Mageia, that's quite an accomplishment compared to Mandriva, if you ask me.

And no one is claiming otherwise. Mandriva just irked me about the lack of support they had for something I would usually pay for (often bought the PowerPack).
