[SOLVED] wavinfo

Postby tarazed » Oct 1st, '11, 23:38

Wavinfo should be in the waveutils package I think, not part of Mageia. I tried the tarball but could not get it to compile; loads of duplicate member errors from waitstatus.h while compiling InfoWave.o. Does not mean anything to me except that the errors seem to concern a union between a couple of structs and a status int.
Since I am working with a 64-bit system it seemed worth specifying /usr/lib64 at the configure stage but that had no effect. Has anybody seen an RPM anywhere?

wavbreaker contains /usr/bin/wavinfo. You could have checked that easily by using urpmf wavinfo,
which searches for a file of that name in all packages in all enabled package repositories ;)

But i don't know if that's the one your looking for ...

Right, thanks for the information. I did not know about urpmf. In the meantime I found that sox supplies the same information. Sox underlies play and I am assuming wavinfo as well.
Code: Select all
$ soxi "Sweet Bells.wav"

Input File     : 'Sweet Bells.wav'
Channels       : 1
Sample Rate    : 22050
Precision      : 32-bit
Duration       : 00:03:36.56 = 4775116 samples ~ 16241.9 CDDA sectors
File Size      : 19.1M
Bit Rate       : 706k
Sample Encoding: 32-bit Signed Integer PCM
