Web browser maintainers are awesome

Postby Dlrobin874 » Nov 7th, '21, 21:38

Let me know if this makes more sense in the packaging forum, but I didn't want to add noise there.

But I just saw Debian removed Chromium from their testing release, and Firefox ESR is still on 78. Which is not to throw shade, I understand keeping fast moving browsers updated especially on a stable release is a hard job.

Mageia has both browsers still fully updated on their stable release. I don't know if there's just a more relaxed policy on updating dependencies or devendoring libraries, or if we just have superhuman package maintainers.

But either way, good job everyone.

Thank you, we are hard at work.

Any help is always welcome.
I.e if you like testing, currently there are updates of Firefox, Tunderbird, kernels...

I read the mailing lists as newsgroups in Seamonkey. https://ml.mageia.org/l/home
The amount of work done by volunteers in every capacity, day after day, is impressive.
Good job!

Which is precisely why I stopped using Debian a month ago.

As a new Mageia user, I'd also like to express my thanks to the Mageia maintainers for keeping Firefox, Thunderbird and Chromium up to date.

Yes. :)

I previously submitted a bug report to Mozilla regarding Firefox and the fix should be in Firefox 95, according to the bug report. I would expect this same fix to be brought into Firefox 91.4 ESR.

I have the Firefox Release Calendar saved as a Bookmark.
