[SOLVED] Mageia install DVD ISO old version archive

Postby MagicD3VIL » Jul 11th, '21, 04:03

Good day community,
I am out of options and I am asking for your help! I noticed that around the time that Mageia 8 was released all of the older Mageia releases are no longer available to download from the official repo mirrors (all versions were still available in 2020) and most of the torrents are now also dead. Since I am a big fan of history and software preservation I uploaded Mageia 7.1 to archive.org last summer and wanted to upload the rest of the ISOs later that week to preserve them but I got caught up with work and forgot about it, well now it seems to be too late. :|

That's why I am asking the community for help. If you still have the i586 or x86_64 installation DVD ISOs laying around from Mageia 1 up until Mageia 5 (that also goes for the alpha and beta releases) please either preserve that piece of software history that I didn't manage to find on archive.org yourself or either revive the old official torrents* or send the ISOs to me so I can preserve them on archive.org.

I would much appreciate anyone helping out with this software preservation effort for historical purposes.

The current status of ISOs I managed to acquire:

*All ISOs marked as "Has/found torrent file" will have their respective original torrent files available at https://git.sliva.dev/mga/
If you are able and willing to seed please remember to enable DHT since most if not all of the original trackers are dead OR add this tracker for the torrent in your torrent client:

Thanks to everyone who participated, all installers have been successfully archived. I will be archiving all newer releases (>= mga8) once they become obsolete.

Hi there. Quick search on http://mirrors.mageia.org/ revealed: http://ftp.klid.dk/ftp/mageia/iso/ but I guess there are more.

Thank you, Filip! That's exactly what I was looking for! I only went through few mirrors on top of the list last night since I tried to focus on those from France, most of them were missing the older releases except the Internode. :)
