Install Mageia on a smartphone

Postby pmithrandir » Nov 21st, '13, 15:38

Hello.

I would like to tryc to install mageia on a smartphone.
My final goal is to have the same functionnalities than here : http://www.ubuntu.com/phone/ubuntu-for-android
But with mageia of course :)

I'm at the begining of the idea, and will be able to buy a phone for that next january. So I can still choose the best compatible phone.

My final goal is to have a dock at my desk, one in my office, and one around my TV. And then, to just plug and unplig my smartphone from a place to another.
Do you think it's duable ?

Thank you,
Pierre

Sure it's doable. Big job though. First you will need an ARM port of Mageia...that's been discussed before here; try searching for it.

Hello,

I read it, but I found only people starting to work on it, no final product ready to use.
I didn't see any "easy" installation process to get it ready to use... I would say that it's a pre pre alpha at best for what I read.
Did I understood it wrong ?

There is no final product, there is no easy installation process, there's are not even a remotely recent versions of packages and they are not complete.
That's what the other thread mentions, also that there's manpower missing and it's not being worked on currently.

Which part you didn't understand/miss?

none of them... My last question was just to know if there was any change planned, or any reinforcment of this direction for the next few years.

If it's not the case, fine for me.
