Hi;
First of all; no doubt Mageia has proved to be a competitive and stable distro. Thanks to everybody working on it and hope I'll be able to contribute soon..
Now I understand that the iso's are meant to be free open-source, but when it comes to an everyday normal user few things, many rather, should be taken into consideration! What I want to say is that some firmware of WIFi cards, free though the could be, are not installed by default..That's logical as the card is usb and has not been present during the installation..but why not advise the user that he should install the corresponding package upon detecting the presence of such a hardware..!
The same applies to video cards..While this could be trickier, isn't there a way to default to vesa when some radeon, fglrx or other proprietary VGA card is detected instead of leaving the user with a blank black screen after the installation. Then we can point out that the VGA card needs a certain package..
I thing this would make Mageia friendlier userwise.
Thank you
