Pessoal,

I downloaded and installed Mageia 3 Beta 1 KDE LiveDVD 64 (Mageia-3-beta1-KDE4-LiveDVD-x86_64-DVD.iso) in Virtual Box, inside the Mageia 2.

The installation of Mageia 3 beta 1 is still similar of installing of Mageia 2 KDE LiveCD. The difference now is that, when you configure the Startup Menu, there is the option to install Grub2 Menu:

Above: selecting the installation of Grub Legacy (blue) or the Grub2 (yellow).

The choice is quite easy and simple. I decided to test the installation and appearance of Grub2 Menu

Once installed, the Grub2 menu is what appear:

    Above: Grub2 menu after installation
Clicking the first option "Mageia GNU / Linux", you access the Mageia 3
Clicking on the second option "Advanced Options for Mageia GNU / Linux", it will access options Kernel installed. After the update has been added another kernel, Linux 3.7.1

Compare with legacy grub menu of Mageia 2

Above: Advanced Options for Mageia GNU/Linux, to select the boot options with different kernel installed.

Image 04 ---------->>Click on image to enlarge <<------------

Image 05 ---------->> Click on image to enlarge <<------------

Above: O firefox ESR 17 and KDE 4.9.90

I disabled the "desktop effects" to do "Mageia 3 beta 1" lighten in VirtualBox (with standard memory installed on virtualbox Mageia 2).

I changed the classic menu to another menu. Then I tried doing a search of a word and the screen was locked for a few seconds, returning to normal, allowing me to go back to the classic menu

I have installed Mageia 3. Installation was smooth. I have noticed that it is NOT mounting my other hard drives and partitions, however. They are not showing up in dolphin at all. I have confirmed they are still physically working with fdisk and I can of course reboot into them. Anyone know how I can fix this? When I installed, I had already partitioned Mageia3, and so I may have missed a step during that about my other partitions. Somewhat a noob when it comes to these things. Not sure if this is a bug, or just user error.

Strange. I'm behind very closed corporate firewall so I can't properly check ftp right now. But when I check in browser both http and ftp seems ok.

Yes but that doesn't explain why this link ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/ didn't work for most of yesterday.

Hi,
To help with publicity, would be nice to fix links of the blog "Download (coming)" and add the links of the torrents on the download page

Until now, there is only one news about Mageia 3 beta 1, from PCINpact, in french: Mageia 3 now available in beta.
