Drakewall Firewall Upgrade To Manage Apps - Easy To Do

Postby intika » Aug 13th, '14, 00:22

Hello

According to that post
[HOWTO] Tomoyo - Apparmor - Application Based Firewall
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=8273

It could be very nice if drakewall integrate tomoyo to manage network at applications level.
in conjunction of actual iptables functioning.

Its easy to do and it would be a big "plus feature" for mageia... and user coming from ubuntu/opensuse they will find an alternative to apparmor

;)

Seems you ignore my post viewtopic.php?p=50649#p50649 .
Here it is again:

Note: this is the wrong place to contact Mageia developers, nobody reads here (apart from me).
Either send a mail to mageia-dev mailing list and discuss that there or create a bug for the enhancement request:

As you say that it's easy to do, just attach the patch for drakfirewall to your mail, and someone will happily apply that for if it works properly and does not introduce any regressions.

yeah it's just about a patch for drakewall gui or tomoyo package
also a we could develop a tool to manage request in a live mode that use "tomoyo-queryd" it will be just a a gui interface for "tomoyo-queryd"
may be 2h or 3h of work for the dev that made drakewall, for me it will be may be a week of work as i don't often develop under linux, i will first see what dev team will answer to the mail
https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/dev/2014-08/msg00214.html
i don't really have the time to develop it plus as i use mageia as a server i don't really use a lot of gui i directly use tomoyo tools to edit the rules... it's why i posted in suggestion.

The tool is more then 15 years old and the original developer is not present anymore. Other developers are already overworked.

Chance to get it rejected yes, done for nothing probably not. That's why I mentioned to discuss this on the dev mailing list to get the opinions of some developers on this matter.
