Phones, tablets and laptops

Hi :)

Phones, tablets and laptops:

Take care and do not forget to mobile with or without keyboard, smartphones, tablets, laptops, improve compatibility with Android devices, improve Mageia on laptops, I think there's much future there ... what about Mageia for ARM?

For example something I've seen in several places are requests for tools that facilitate the use, management, updating and synchronizing devices with Android, Bada, WebOS, etc ... in Linux ...

Bye....

This is a very hot issue right now. The Big Distros
such as Ubuntu and also Mandriva have made strategic
decisions to somewhat back away from the desktop
market and aim more for portable ( phones, tablets
and laptops ) devices. Ubuntu with their Unity
GUI. Mandriva concentrating on KDE4. And even
Microsoft gave a peek at the next generation of
Windows, it also is more touchscreen tablet friendly.
Effectively there is a rush to the bottom. IMO Mageia
should concentrate on the Gnome GUI and the
desktop. They may find themselves with a whole
market, and a big one, all to themselves.

I think you might be underestimating how much work this would require, and how many people would want to do this.

Thanks, I heard the news by Mageia blog, though I have walked out of time working with Windows but sometimes visit sites to find out the news ...

Well it seems that other companies and linked to the FOSS distributions are also working well already Tablets Android ...

After coming Mageia in smart phones, but being Google, Mozilla, Novell and Canonical working maybe we can collaborate and improve what is free and open source ...

Hopefully, unlike Ubuntu, they'll use KDE's wonderful Plasma Active One.

I there any chance Plasma Active 3 RPMs will be available?

It's really a thin layer on top of KDE (macros mostly) so it should not be too horribly intrusive.

I'd love to try it out on top of Mageia vs installing another distro just for the purpose of trying it out.
(esp as I have to compile a custom module and setup a custom config for my unsupported touchscreen)

my 2 cents: I think gnome 3 would be the ideal touch interface desktop environment. I understand KDE is actively developing touch, and God bless them for doing so, but the gnome 3 method of operation has "touch me" written all over it.

There is one problem with plasma active, you need to compile it from sources because mageia have not imported it yet to unstable arm build. You can allways make package request to bugzilla and hope they will build it,i would think to buy tablet pc but not until mageia have both arm and plasma active.

I picked up a Lenovo x200 tablet (core2 duo, 4G ram, 160G HDD) that has a nicely working wacom pen-only screen.

It should work peachy with Plasma-Active, no ARM port required.

I just have ~no interest in installing SUSE to try it out, as it runs as slow as molasses in the freezer.
