[SOLVED] We need DNSCrypt

Postby viking60 » Mar 21st, '12, 12:55

There are lots of reasons for implementing DNSCrypt
DNSCrypt is available for Mac and Linux and will be for Windows in April. I just compiled DNSCrypt from aur in Arch and it works nicely right out of the box there.

Mind to mark the thread as [SOLVED] as dnscrypt is packaged now?

Huh? You posted the availability of the package in cauldron yourself ...
FWIW, you can either query Sophie in IRC https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Sophie or query Mad Bee ;) http://madb.org/ to see which packages are available for Mageia.

Thanks for the info!
I have not tested the 32bit version in the Github link - hence my comment (and Germs question). The first link is to the 64 bit version only...
Edit:
And it does turn up nicely in Caulderon after a search in madb:
http://mageia.madb.org/package/show/rel ... rypt-proxy

The version in Github is 0.9.4 and Cauldron has 0.8.1 is it difficult to change to the latest version?

Depends for whom
If i find some time i can just submit 0.9.4 to cauldron, as it's now ready for breakage again
Otherwise you can just do an anonymous checkout of that package from Mageia SVN, or download the src.rpm, install it as user,
adjust the version in the SPEC file and after downloading the tarball for 0.9.4 do a rebuild. Sounds more complicated than it is actually.
Interested in the two latter options?

Oh you know... I am just a simple magazine reader so I would not understand über complicated stuff like that. I will say it with Ibsen:
Jeg spørger helst, mitt kall er ei at svare

Mitt Kall wird EI reagiert nur zu fragen,

The now correct qoute is from a letter Ibsen wrote to literature criticizer Gerorg Brandes in 1875:
Krev ei, min venn, at jeg skal gåten klare. Jeg spørger helst, mitt kall er ei at svare.

Do not demand, my friend, that I should solve the riddle. I will rather ask, it is not my calling to answer.

By some miracle (and pure luck) I have version 0.9.4 working on my box
So maybe Iater...
