DHCP and DNS Server

Postby robian-tl » Feb 22nd, '12, 21:03

It would be helpful for IT staff not familiar with Mageia if there was a DHCP and DNS configuration module in the Mageia Control Centre. Examples in Mandriva MES 5.2 or OpenSuse take the hard work out of setting up DHCP and DNS Servers. We promote Linux Domain Controllers with Samba as a replacement for Windows Server but clients are usual put off by having to manually change dhcpd.conf and named.conf. Could this be included in Mageia 2? Mageia 1 has been a dream to use and we very much like the business approach and design on the desktop and interface. Great work - keep it up.

It's probably too late in the development cycle to integrate something like MDS (MES is Mandriva Enterprise Server, which uses MDS http://mds.mandriva.org/ ) because it would require much work to integrate this into Mageia.
But you should file a package request for MDS: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_repor ... ge_request

For reference, here's the development schedule: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_dev ... t_Planning
