I installed the new beta1 (great job, by the way) and would suggest a strong password tool integrated on the install. I just put in "mag" as password and it was allowed without any warning, which I think is unsecure for novell users...

Authentication-settings can be configured through MSEC.
Start the Mageia Control Centre -> Security -> Configure System Security...... -> (tab) Security Settings -> (tab) System Security.
Double-click the option you like to change.
