mdadm support in installer

I notice mageia is able to install to an mdadm raid1 setup, but it's not documented and is a bit flakey. (I use a terminal with the boot iso)

I use gparted and mdadm in the console(within the installer environment), the system installs and boots, but has a few issues.

The one thing preventing me from using/installing mageia is the lack for mdadm raid1 support.

The installer is almost perfect since it can install to raid1 but it's raid1 assembly support is not functional. (I assembled the raid1 array with the mdadm command)

I tried to search for prior topics relating to this but it doesn't talk about having it in the installer.

The installer is very capable, and I hope it can be possible to patch it as I always use raid1 for my linux setups.

If this interests anyone feel free to add more suggestions and ideas.

hoping this is not too much to ask.

thanks

Thank you for the response and welcome to our forum.

I find we have a request in this form: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Feature:Use_ ... id_devices
Maybe we should open an enhancement request on the installer in our bugzilla.

This is not my cup of tea, but i see threads here and there about mdadm.
Have you searched this forum and our wiki for mdadm?

Have a look at e.g. https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic. ... 75&p=49644
Installer has dmraid and softraid support, also mdadm but that hasn't been updated for quite some time.

On an unrelated note, why not simply use LVM mirroring which does not need any external tools ?
