[SOLVED]new plugin for Ktorrent ?

Postby voxel » Mar 30th, '22, 15:48

Hello folks ^^)

Would it be possible to see in the near future a new plugin for KTorrent that would ease the global ban of bad trackers from loaded torrents ?

I know that there is the tick box in the trackers tab of each torrents, but it would be far better to be able to ban bad/dead trackers globally and see it
deactivated at once for all torrents where it appears.

would it be possible ? would be great!

Thanks by advance,
Jeff

Not clear what you mean. Is there a plugin available that you want to see in Mageia? Could you give a link? Do you want a complete new Ktorrent feature? Dependent on this information you could either file a package request at Mageia bugtracker (if there is a plugin for Ktorrent available) or file a feature request at KDE bugtracker (if you want a new feature).

Hello ^^)

I've searched and hasn't found any other plugins for KTorrent than the ones that are already in it, in the Mageia version.

So yes it's a new feature I would like to see added :)

so I go to the kde bugtracker for this, thanks ^^)

Dear voxel

For completeness, you could add link to that bug here.

And please edit the headline of first post in this topic, putting [SOLVED] in front.

This is the link to the KDE bug:

It seems that a similar feature to manage several tracker URL at once was removed long time ago:

@morgano:

Oups! you're right I forgot it :( sorry

@sturmvogel :
Thanks a lot :)

BTW, the bug you point to is not what I want,
in the case of dead or bad trackers I don't want Change their URL, I want to permanently tick it as 'Ignore' or 'deactivate' so KTorrent does not try to open it.

right now you can do it for each torrent one at a time but as soon as you close that torrent the 'ban' is lost and you have to redo it each time you add a new torrent :( painfull and loss of time.

with a 'ban' tracker database ? system it would be done once and stay in the prefs of KTorrent, so when you add a new torrent all the bad/dead trackers will be auto 'removed/deactivated' and only the live trackers will be checked for pairs ^^)

added benefit : a lot less queries to inexistant URLs --> less traffic on the net and less traces ;)
