Suggestion for Mageia Update

I just tried several times to get the latest updates to install; each time it failed with multiple "bad download" errors...

Trivial suggestion guys - when that happens, the program should switch to a different mirror. Every single time I tried it showed the same mirror, and I have no idea how to convince it to use a different mirror other than completely reconfiguring my sources (which would take too long for this time of night).

There is a similar Feature Proposal for Mageia 6:

https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Feature:Urpm ... navailable

It is hoped to have mirrorbrain working for Mageia 6, if the sysadmins can find the time to implement it.

You are correct, and yes it should. IIRC this was one of the reasons why aria2 support was added to urpmi, but we never got the download failover sadly.

I switched over to dnf as package manager in Mageia 6 (Cauldron) and it works as required here. I spotted several times that it switched over to alternate mirrors after failures. The transactions as a whole always succeeded. A great improvement!

Seems I ran into the same problem, where easthsia.com doesn't/didn't have the updates for Mageia6 Development Alpha1. My solution was to go into the Mageia Control Center -> Software Management -> "Configure media sources for install and update", then go to pull-down menu File->"Add a specific media mirror", and select an alternate mirror from the list since I kept getting failures from the current mirror.

I also noted that distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr currently gets it's source from rsync.mageia.org , therefore I chose a mirror from the list that also syncs with rsync.mageia.org plus also has a sufficiently large Bandwidth.
This is the list: http://mirrors.mageia.org/

Sometimes mirrors are up to date, sometimes not.
Just FYI in case someone else is running into issues.

... and status can be seen here : http://mirrors.mageia.org/status
(IIRC it checks a timestamp file at top level)

Mirror status page is not always good place to look if mirror is up to date, page have sometimes wrong information.
I have faced several times during day mirror status page show mirror is almost 2 days out of date, when i check it from ftp/http it shows it been all time up to date.
