Simon is a very professional open source product.

It is not in the repos for MGA 5 but the PClinuxOS rpm works.

I am concerned that there might not be something comparable for MGA 6 when it arrives.

From what I can tell, it's not maintained anymore since 2013 ... so it's not a good idea to add it for Mageia 6.
But as the pclos package still works, you can simply use that.

It appears you are incorrect. It continues to be maintained.
