[SOLVED] How about reiserfs option in the installer?

Postby rolf » Jul 31st, '15, 17:49

Hi,
I've used reiserfs3 for just about all the time I've used Linux, starting with Mandrake 7.1 Power Pack about 15 years ago.

I didn't find it in the installer diskdrake, so I installed MGA 5 to ext3 and converted to reiserfs with fstransform

So, it can be done but it's a bit tricky to remember the few steps needed with config file edits, maybe rebuild the initrd... See, I've already forgotten!

So, can reiserfs3 support be added back to the installer?

Thanks.

Hi there, the support is still there. It was only removed from the normal view, you can still create reiser filesystems via enabling expert mode:

Thanks, isadora, I'm forgetful about that part. Enfin, as I had just installed MGA5_64 to my HP thin client,, I just fired up the DVD, toggled diskdrake to expert, installed, again, in reiserfs, and all seems to be working well on that machine.

Not easily; You can select ReiserFS but not Reiser4

We dropped Reiser4 ten years ago as it was not working then.

You may post an enhancement request bug for consideration.

Please always provide a link back as that helps others who have the same problem / request to follow up.
