Hardware support wiki page?

Postby Umeaboy » Jul 15th, '22, 04:34

I have been visiting https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris to read how they show what works and not for a certain device and I'd like to see something similar for x86 based devices and arm devices as well and I would like us to use that page as a template to show new users what actually works using the stable releases of Mageia.
This is a nice way to guide people to buy the right hardware before they actually start the installation on something that's to new and partially or not supported.
I'm not talking about the people who knows how to fix problems with graphic cards, I'm talking about the people that come from Windows saying "It should just work" and this list will show that it does work.

Anyone that seconds this idea?

I know that our wiki is open to be edited, but I plan to make a test on my user talk page and change every now and then.

In my experience such pages tend to only contain a fraction of actually supported hardware.
Due to lack of interested manpower to add to it.
Result: users see far less support than exist...

To test for support on users existing hardware our Live ISOs are good.
But yes how to select new hardware is hard to know.
Especially brand new laptops etc.
