I'm trying to get shortcut keys to work on mate
the developers is trying to help, but I'm not there yet

How would I use Fedora repositories to access a newer version than we have in the Mageia repositories?
or any other solution that would get me there?

You can dowload it from here http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/27192209/dir/rawhide/com/gmusicbrowser-1.1.13-1.fc22.noarch.rpm.html Though there is no gaurantee it will work and may give you dependancy problems.
