Audacity

I have something odd happening. My sound works generally but not for Audacity. If i play an mp3 file, the sound level shows it is playing. I have tried every option in the input and output sound servers and looked in mixers for mutes etc.. What is really odd is that while playing a song (silently) , gkrelm shows eth1 lighting up. As soon as I exit Audacity, the network activity stops. Anyone got an idea of what this means?

It is a bug !
I am experiencing the same problem on Mageia 1 KDE 32 bit.
This is my soundcard: VT1708/A [Azalia HDAC] (VIA High Definition Audio Controller)
Driver Modulo: snd_hda_intel
Is the microphone not working, as with Audacity as with Skype as with Cheese.
Even without Pulseaudio or using Phonon-VLC, nothing to do, shame !
