Hi,
Are you using gnome or kde as your desktop environment? If you are on kde then open the kde system settings, go to multimedia/phonon/backend and choose 5.1 output from the list. I don't know what is the correct procedure in gnome, but it should work using the pulseaudio volume control (configuration tab).

Hi tijybba,
Sorry, my error, it's not under backend, instead under speaker setup/sound output. This is what I have there (ich8 integrated 7.1 audio):

Hey Blas Thanks For that ,

But i still don't have any such option but more similar is this option under drop-down menu

>> DIGITAL STEREO (IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input
But no sound on selecting this option.

Anyway thanks dude for your effort.

I also would like to use all of the speakers on my 5.1 sound.
using the on-board optical sound port .But can only seam to get it to show 2 speakers.
I don't really understand the relation shit between pulse audio volume contol , Alsamixer and Phonon.

I have
Phonon Configuration Module
Version 4.6.5 (4.6.5)
Using KDE Development Platform 4.6.5 (4.6.5)

AlsaMixer v1.0.24.2

kde 4.6
using a Nvidia graphic card and driver if that matters.

sound card info
Your card currently uses the ALSA "snd_hda_intel" driver (the default driver for your card is "snd_hda_intel")
