faad is only the decoder, you need faac and libflac if you want to encode something.

libflac++6, libflac8, flac, and gstreamer flac are installed already..nothing comes up in repos for "faac".. i installed the same plugins that i installed in mageia 1 and 2 to make it work and now the format doesn't show up in soundconverter....i searched the forum for info and found nothing, maybe it's a bug in soundconverter 2.0.4..

flac is something different, check https://xiph.org/flac/
You need faac, see https://github.com/HessiJames/soundkonv ... ot_m4a_aac
faac has been dropped due to various reasons, and soundkonverter has probably not been ported to vo-aacenc yet.

You may need to use another converter.

Well it does work in our distro, it's just not in the repositories provided by Mageia. For background information check https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1730#c4
For other distributions it's also only contained in community repos, check e.g. pkgs.org.

If you really want/need it you can rebuild e.g. the Fedora or Rosa packages.

wish mageia would of made a repo for it so it was atleast optional...i don't know how to rebuild package's, that's why i use mageia every things there and simple to learn...rebuilding packages requires command line which i barely use in less it's basic stuff..thank you for the info...i'll see if a friend can rebuild it for me..
