Mageia 8 installed off live DVD on Acer Aspire laptop with intel sound. The live DVD worked the sound okay, but after installing the full install the sound card cannot be detected. Well, it must be detected as it's correctly reported in the device manager area of Control Center, but Pulse Audio cannot see it now; it is blank except for "dummy."

I've tried installing Alsa Mixer, but it cannot see it either. I'm wondering what happened. I did a full upgrade of all software during install, then I ran upgrade/update again from Control Center; made no difference.

Any help is appreciated very much as everything else about this distro looks pretty good.

Try pavucontrol. I haven't had to use it in a while. You may need to install it. It's in the repos.
