[Done] jamulus instalation on Mageia 7

Postby JJF1 » May 6th, '20, 15:49

Anybody had experience in installing jamulus application on Mageia 7?
Trying to run jamulus after supposedly successful installation I received the following error

Code: Select all
The Jack server is not running. This software requires a Jack server to run. Normally if the Jack server is not running this software will automatically start the Jack server. It seems that this auto start has not worked. Try to start the Jack server manually.

I than installed Qjack (as suggested "somewhere") and received the following error:
Code: Select all
Could not connect to JACK server as client.
- Overall operation failed.
- Unable to connect to server.
Please check the messages window for more info.

The Message info reported the following:

FWIW, do you actually understand what a jack server is?
Also, the message info that you posted, that is from qjackctl or from jamulus ?
And did you start a jack server from qjackctl before trying to connect to that from jamulus ?

I do not know what exactly are the relationship between jamulus and jack.
However running jamulus after "successful installation I got the message that jamulus needs the jack server in order to run .
I also noticed that various jack modules were installed by Mageia as part of various audio / sound utilities.

The 1st message was jamulus's
The 2nd message received when trying to run Qjackctl which directed me to the last message

The bottom line is how to run the Jack server ?
Tks

Exactly, and jack audio server should be running before you start jamulus.

E.g. with the big start button in qjackctl ? Afterwards you can click the graph button in qjackctl, and you'll see a graphical map of the jack input and output streams,
and if you run jamulus then you'll see it pop up in that graph.

Here is the problem
When I run Qjackctl
1st window displayed is the "jack Audio connection Kit" . Apparently I can press "start" or any other button , but, even before any action I get the
2nd window with "Error - JACK ....." after which the
3rd windows "Masage / Status - JACK Audio Connectio Kit" pops up

Any clue??

Sorry, I can't reproduce. Even with some audio already running, after starting qjackctl, I press start and it will launch jack server.

Did you maybe change any of the settings in qjackctl ? You could try to remove ~/.config/rncbc.org/QjackCtl.conf and ~/.jackdrc and then try again.

You could also try this: http://people.uleth.ca/~daniel.odonnell ... ackctl#how

I managed to get jamulus to run, only after I killed pulseaudio. I have, alwayes , to kill PulseAudio first before I can run Jamulus.
There are other issues that makes Linux Jamulus unusable so run in my configuration
