[SOLVED] No sound in Videos using HTML 5 (Firefox/Chromium)

Postby tdmsoares » May 18th, '16, 06:25

I'm having some problems when I want to watch some videos in HTML5: the video runs well, but the audio doesn't play. In Flash it works fine.

I've searched a lot about this problem and in most cases I find something related to
Code: Select all
~/.asoundrc
file (this file I don't have in my home dir). I tried to install
Code: Select all
gstreamer0.10-decoders-audio
, but the problem remains...

Is there something that I can do to fix this?

Thanks!

What video format, what codec and please at the very least post an example link.

Thanks a lot for answering!

In the meantime I posted this issue and the post was in moderator review, I searched also in this forum about that issue, and one topic mentioned something related to Software Repositories, in special the NonRelease and Tainted ones. I checked in MCC and both NonRelease and Tainted were checked, except Tainted Releases (only Tainted Update was selected before).
With all these repositories checked, Mageia updated the files related and I can now listen all videos (no matter it is Flash or HTML5) in Firefox and Chromium as well!

I thought that in Mageia installing, setting NonRelease repositories all codecs were installed in my PC...

No, by simply enabling any repo no package is installed. And you would need tainted repositories, not only nonfree.

Please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks
