Hey,
I have an older Mageia 4 distro in a Toshiba laptop. The sound has never been quite right on this system, but it has been satisfactory and until the last couple of days, excellent through the headphones. Late last week, I started to notice that voice outputs in music videos on YouTube were distorted. It occurs on both Firefox and Opera. I have Flash for Opera and no flash for Firefox. Having read a few of the responses to similar issues here, it sounds like there was a related bug with the H264 plugin on Firefox, and maybe some issues with not all dependencies enabled in the software repositories. On the other hand I could be missing something simple in the Mageia Control Center with regard to how the audio devices are setup as I am still learning that. Does this sound like a software issue, a sound card issue or something where I need to adjust the settings of my built in analog stereo? As far as I know, I made no changes to the settings that previously worked. I do not know if I gave you enough information to be helpful. A potentially critical footnote to all this is that for months now, I have not been able to get any audio playback through the laptops speakers, but only through my headphones. Any advice would be appreciated...even if all you can tell me is what other information I need to give so you can help. Thanks in advance.
