Hello,

I am using Mageia 5 with Cinnamon. Since the installation, sound was working fine. But as from today, I can't hear any sound, except from Youtube videos.

I did not find any related article on the forum. Could someone help me?

I'm having the same problems, several websites, such as vimeo and facebook, I get no sound (in facebook I do get sound with youtube videos)

This is with mageia 5 and only in firefox, chrome works OK

Sorry, but this thread just holds not enough details. What browser and version do you use, what videos are not working (flash, HTML5, ... etc) and what player is used.
And at the very least provide an example link for a video which does not have sound. Otherwise probably nobody is able to help or even comment - which you may have recognised from the absolute absence of replies.

Yes, sorry. However I had done a little more searching since posting and found the solution.

I enabled the tainted repositories, then installed

task-codec-audio

then forced an update in a root terminal with

urpmi --auto-update

Once firefox was restarted everything seems fine.

I feel a little stupid now, as I should have thought of that before.

Nothing stupid about in my humble opinion, but using the "Search"-function of the forum, would have given you hints.

I was searching specifically for firefox, it was only when I expanded my search to codecs I found the solution.

And my fuzzy brain had forgotten I had to enable the tainted repositories after a clean install of Mageia 5, D'oh

Been a while since I did a clean install as I had simply upgraded from 2 through to 4,but this time round I had treated myself to an SSD drive for Mageia 5 to sit on.

Best setup a short text file with notes what to do after an installation, so you won't need to search and ask again when Mageia 6 is installed.
