No sound but mobo does emit sounds - SOLVED

Postby adhefe » Oct 14th, '21, 06:24

Hi,
Used to have audio until today. Mobo still produces its sounds. Is there any reason why support to audio has stopped? No more drive to mobo db85fl internal audio? I thank any comments

Hi, Morgano,

I have mageia 8, up to date, in a desktop I've build my self. This uses onboard audio.

When I turn the computer on, mother board first shows a kind of advertisement with sound before booting. Then I think audio is working fine.

Please show the output of the following commands as regular user

Code: Select all
LC_ALL=C pacmd ls
grep -i codec /proc/asound/card*/codec*
lspcidrake -v | grep -i audio
dmesg | grep -C1 -iE 'ALSA|HDA|HDMI|snd[_-]|sound|hda.codec|hda.intel'
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

Re: No sound but mobo does emit sounds - SOLVED

Postby adhefe » Oct 15th, '21, 22:12

As a test for the hardware integrity, I've booted with mageia 8 live to see if the sound was OK or if there were some software misconfiguration. Audio was OK then. But the point is that when I plugged the pendrive I've also got better contact for the audio plugs too! After rebooting with my mageia 8 installation I could hear again.

Thus, I apologize for the false alarm and thanks a lot for the help!

Thanks again

Great you found the problem :)
It is a good test to boot the live system.
