[SOLVED] pulseaudio cant see headphones microphones

[SOLVED] pulseaudio cant see headphones microphones

Postby sameeeer » Jul 19th, '21, 01:35

hello again everyone

nice to see all of you again

today i faced a strange behaviour from pulseaudio

all its features are working good but strangly it cant detect the built-in headphones microphones

also its equalizer cant be launched because my system is lacking pulseaudio dbus according to what command line said

to be honest equalizer is not important to me like the microphones

so how can we fix microphones bug for now

NEW UPDATE

all the problem that i explained for you here is with bluetooth headphones not with analog headphone beacause they work fine

thanks again

Hi there, your description is a bit confusing.

So this is only about bluetooth headphones - do they output sound just fine and only microphone is not working, or is nothing working at all. And how did you test sound output and microphone ?

For the equalizer, what did you run in particular ?

Also, what desktop environment do you use, what Mageia version and how did you pair the bluetooth headset ?

hello a gain doktor5000 and thanks again for help

here the INFOS for all your points

- 1st point
yes headphones outputs working without any problem i can hear everything
but in the other hand the built-in microphone cant be detected by pulseaudio

- 2nd point
for the equlizer i did these things
a - install pulseaudio-module-equalizer
b - i opened pulseaudio setting to check it but there is nothing there
c - i run this command line
Code: Select all
qpaeq

and i got this result
Code: Select all
There was an error connecting to pulseaudio, please make sure you have the pulseaudio dbus module loaded, exiting...

:) i think i need to reboot my system to make it happend maybe pulseaudio is one of the systems services that need rebooting to take effect :)

-: update :-

system rebooting didnt help

- 3rd point
i am useing
mageia 8 / plasma desktop / pair my headphone through plasma bluetooth applet

In the edit in your first post you mentioned bluetooth headphones, now you mention the built-in microphone - which is it now ?

Can you post the output as regular user of
Code: Select all
bluetoothctl --devices
pacmd ls

qpaeq is broken since years, have a look at https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14709
I've posted a workaround in viewtopic.php?p=47325#p47325, it worked then when loading the equalizer and dbus modules manually beforehand.

:) sorry doktor5000 :)

i will make it clear for you to understand me clearly :D i am really sorry to confuse you from the begining

here let me help you

you see i i have three wirless headphones in my home all of them have a built-in microphone and those are

1 - sony wh-ch510
2 - beats solo pro
3 - apple airpods

listening to any thing is no problem for me because thier output working fine , my problem is thier inputs are not working (( the built-in microphones to speak to other people ))

because pulseaudio only can see the headphones without thier microphones

i have pictures for pulseaudio window if you like i post them to you

So it's only about the microphone for your various bluetooth headsets.

Built-in usually means the microphone which is directly attached to the case of a laptop, that's why I asked.

Well I see a headset-input port there. But the problem seems to be the headset is running with the wrong profile, it should be using Headset Head Unit (HSP/HFP) to use the microphone IIRC.
A2DP only support playback, but you need hands-free profile for the microphone part to work.

The other question was how did you actually test the microphone, I don't see an answer for that?
You might need to switch the input device or the headset profile to the bluetooth microphone e.g. with pavucontrol or using the KDE mixer.

you see i tried to record whats in my desktop through

simplescreenrecorder

if you used it before you will know that this app will ask you to set which are yours sound inputs will be go through

from ALSA or PULSEAUDIO or JACK

directaly i choosed pulseaudio and start to record a test

after finishing that i discovered there was no any sound in my record

so i opened pulseaudio and kdemixer to check if the microphone was detected by them and surprisingly none of them did that

so to solve this problem

i need to double check if its software or hardware issue and found it was a software issue.....

i already have in my hand an analogue mic so i made another test to see if pulseaudio or kdemixer can detected it and found both of them detected it

directly i opened simplescreenrecorder to record again with that mic and it works without any issues

as you can see pulseaudio and kdemixer have issues to detect headphones built-in microphones as i mentioned above

No, normal microphones are just fine, this is only about bluetooth headsets. But I don't understand what you want to express with that - I just told you that you would need to switch the bluetooth profile for the headset, if you want to use the microfone.

Update

I dont know if this was me that i couldnt saw it in the first time or there was an update for pulseaudio last three days

anyway

i just discovered now there is a new tab in pulseaudio configuration window

and that tab is called "" configuration""

from that tab i can change the profile of the headset from A2DP to HSP/HFP

=========================

last time i mention that i have three headsets and none of their buit-in microphone is working

sameeer wrote:1 - sony wh-ch510
2 - beats solo pro
3 - apple airpods

wil i have a new one ,,,, its huawei freebuds to be sure if there is a bug in apple products connections

and i discovered this

1 - sony wh-ch510 ====> pulseaudio can change its profile and use HSP/HFP instead of A2DP , and programs like simplescreenrecorder can use that microphone

Image

2 - all the other three ====> pulseaudio also can change their profile from A2DP to HSP/HFP but will give me unavailable for their choice

Please don't forget to mark the thread as solved, by editing the subject of the first post and prefix it with [SOLVED], thanks in advance.
