Cant connect to network that requires browser authentication

Postby odisseus » May 4th, '15, 16:16

Hi, guys.
I'm new to mageia and am having this issue.
I can easely connect to my normal wi-fi at many places.
Bit at my work, I havê a connection without password. The authentication is made after connection putting a login and password at the browser in a page I am redirected to.
I usualy could do it with no problema when I was running fedora. But now with margeia I cantora even connect to this network.
Can anyone help me?

What Mageia version do you use? Which desktop environment do you use? Do you use net_applet or NetworkManager?
Please provide the output of the following commands:

Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v | grep -i -e net -e wireless -e wifi
ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep -ie net -e wpa

and, as root:
Code: Select all
ifconfig -a
rfkill list all
systemctl status network.service -a
journalctl -ab | grep -iE "fw|firmware|iwl|wifi|wire|80211"

That wifi connection at work, does it have a hidden SSID?

I can say, just to give the poster some though that our wifi at work that employees are allowed to use works exactly the same.

connect over unencrypted open network.

the browser is then forced through a transparent proxy to authenticate a username/password.

and that allows you through the proxy.

I use this with mga 1,2,3 and 5 no problem at all using firefox/palemoon as my browser.
