IP address does not change....

IP address does not change....

Postby GaryVass » Feb 26th, '15, 16:06

I searched the forum, maybe I missed a similiar post, but I did not see anyone else mention this....

I am running Mageia 4, 64 bit on a Lenovo laptop. I noticed that when I move from one office to another location that the wireless will connect to the new router, but the IP address for my machine, and the DNS address does not change from the previous connection. The networking icon does show that the machine is connected with a new access point name, with the old IP address configuration.

I do have DHCP enabled in the configuation for the wireless connection.

When I disconnect and re-connect, the ip addresses are changed, but they should change automaticly when the new router connects...

Any one else notice this behavior?

Do you use net_applet or networkmanager? Please provide the output of the following commands:

Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v | grep -i -e net -e wireless -e wifi
ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep -ie net -e wpa

and, as root:
Code: Select all
systemctl status network.service -a
journalctl -ab | grep -i dhc

Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
