How to enable Lighspark [DONE]

Hello all!

I have Mageia 4 XFCE 64 bits, Firefox 24.4.0 ESR and Lightspark 0.7.2 installed. I don't know how to get Lightspark working, can anyone help me with that? I saw some instructions for debian-like distributions, but it didn't work for Mageia. Following these I tried to use de comand "update-alternatives" (update-alternatives --config flash-mozilla.so), but I don't know the exact sintax.

If anyone can help me I will be glad.

And sorry for my poor English, it's not my first language.

Thanks!

Please show the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep -e flash -e lightspark | sort

Also, in Firefox under about:plugins do you still see Flash plugin from Adobe?

From what I can see flash-player-plugin will be automatically uninstalled when installing lightspark-mozilla-plugin

After installing it you only have to restart Firefox and the plugin will be active, just checked.

Although lightspark may not work on all videos, check e.g. https://github.com/lightspark/lightspar ... te-Support
Just checked on youtube and it wouldn't properly play any video I've tested.

Thank you, doctor5000!

Here is the output:
Code: Select all
bash-4.2$ rpm -qa | grep -e flash -e lightspark | sort
lib64lightspark0-0.7.2-7.mga4
lightspark-0.7.2-7.mga4
lightspark-mozilla-plugin-0.7.2-7.mga4
lightspark-pulse-0.7.2-7.mga4

I don't see the Flash plugin from Adobe under about:plugins in Firefox, only Lightspark.
And, yes, the flash plugin from Adobe was automatically removed when I installed Lightspark.

I don't know if Lightspark is the best alternative, if you have another one, please tell me!
Thank you!

As I've shown you above, there's not more you need to do - Chromium even asked me to allow Lightspark to run when opening some video - chromium was not even restarted.

For an alternative, either do not use Flash, or use HTML5 - sorry but it's simple as that.
If you need Flash, there is no real alternative to Adobe Flash Player ... well, you could basically first download each video,
and then play it back using vlc, xbmc or mplayer or something like that.

doktor5000, I've reached the same conclusion. Lighspark doesn't work and there is no real alternative for Adobe flash plugin, as you said.

Thank you for trying to help!

Best regards!
