Broadcom bluetooth

Broadcom bluetooth

Postby Trio3b » Nov 20th, '13, 03:57

Dell inspiron N5010 running mga 3 KDE. Broadcom wireless seems fine. Bluetooth file transfers and connections show as failed although KDE bluetooth config shows 2 cellphones as found, paired, trusted and panel applet shows bluetooth on, laptop adapter discoverable and devices cellphones are listed. ( I don't know how one of those phones showed up in the panel applet b/c I never paired them but it's there nonetheless.)

Rfkill shows all w/l and bluetooth hdwr and sftwr as unblocked.

lsusb shows :
Code: Select all
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0a5c:4500 Broadcom Corp. BCM2046B1 USB 2.0 Hub (part of BCM2046 Bluetooth)
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 413c:8161 Dell Computer Corp. Integrated Keyboard
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 413c:8162 Dell Computer Corp. Integrated Touchpad [Synaptics]
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 413c:8160 Dell Computer Corp. Wireless 365 Bluetooth

Apparently mga 3 switched to open drivers and the proprietary BCM stuff can be d/l'ed by enabling nonfree repos but there are numerous packages related to broadcom wl in rpmdrake and the download indicates 120mb. Would like to narrow down the package list to the right one before I install a bunch of broadcom kernels/packages that will clutter stuff up.

Any help appreciated.

The broadcom-wl packages are unrelated and only for the wireless part. If that works, no need to install them

Please post the complete output of
Code: Select all
hcitool dev
rfkill list all

and also have a look at the last answer from https://ask.fedoraproject.org/question/ ... bluetooth/

Those commands return:

Code: Select all
[userk@inspiron-N5010 ~]$ hcitool dev
Devices:
        hci0    5C:AC:4C:DA:99:3E
[user@inspiron-N5010 ~]$ rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
1: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

For what it's worth:
When sending files from cellphone to the laptop, the blutooth logo changes with what appears to be a connected sign but too small for my eyes. Then the logo reverts back to the "B" and the cell phone indicates "0 files transferred and x files failed"

Hope this helps

If some devices are shown in bluedevil applet, please remove them and readd the pairing.
If there's no pairing, sending files can never succeed.
