"Starting LSB: Wait for the hotplugged network to be up"

I have done a clean install of Mageia 3, but when I boot up I get the message "Starting LSB: Wait for the hotplugged network to be up."

Searching around on the Mageia forums and also generally with Google I see that other people have this problem and it generally either goes unresolved or it is solved by a clean install. I don't consider the clean install to be a real solution, especially in this situation which IS a clean install.

I can do a safe boot. After that I can do an "init 3" and connect to the network just fine in text mode.

This is a desktop system, and the only Ethernet card is on the motherboard. I don't have anything but the keyboard and mouse plugged into the usb.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I did not put this in networking because I am not sure that it is a network issue. I know the error message references ethernet, but my research so far suggests that it might be a more generic problem. Also, when I safe boot my networking seems to work as it should.

A few things would help me, and anyone like me help you.

the way desktop networking is done is different between kde and gnome, and i dont have a clue which one you are running and im not psychic.

when you say it works in text mode, what do you do, service network start ?

what network chipset is it. (ethtool -i eth0)

also the output from dmesg, specific to the nic will also help.
