Postby artproject-2004 » Jul 18th, '13, 21:04

Hi. I have Mageia 3 and I try to connect to internet by WIFI (Tp-Link 821N). I'm using router TP-Link 1043ND. I use network center with uninstalled networkmanager. Its a problem with open sites in browser.
I put into fields:

IP - 192.168.1.1
Mask - 255.255.255.0
Router - 192.168.1.1
DNS1 - 192.168.1.1
DNS2 - 192.168.1.1

1. Nextly I run iwconf
Code: Select all
wlan0     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr *********
          inet addr:192.168.1.1  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: ****::****:****:****:****/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:21 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:159 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:4587 (4.4 KiB)  TX bytes:28317 (27.6 KiB)

2. Run ping 192.168.1.1 - it works great
Code: Select all
ping 192.168.1.1
PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

Hi,
maybe I misunderstood:
do you have the same address for the router AND the wlan0?
It seems that when you ping 192.168.1.1 you're just pinging the wlan0.
A reply of 0.07 ms is localhost....

192.168.1.1 is your router, 192.168.1.100 is your adress received via DHCP. Why don't you use DHCP for linux too?

Well, instead manual configuration select "Automatic IP (BOOTP/DHCP" and in next screen either tick the box "Get DNS servers from DHCP" or enter them manually.

Hi doctor5000. Thanks for your reply. I tried do this but there are problems:
1. If I check "Automatic IP (BOOTP/DHCP" and enter manually DHCP then connection doesn't start. (maybe it helps - when I was configuring router i saw that I have static IP)
2. If I enter booth manually then connection starts but it's very very slow.
3. After reboot computer and start windows it works great with full speed.

What is very slow? Connection establishing?
For 3. you mean under windows it works with full speed, e.g. internet surfing or transfers over wireless?

What about using the settings (static IP, 192.168.1.100 ...) from windows?

I put manually IP static IP, 192.168.1.100 and it works, other automatic combinations are failed.

2. No, establishing connection is quite well and shows 100% range in tray icon but when I open firefox, chromium or opera websites doesnt starts. I have TP-Link 821 wireless card and it's still in the same place. Under windows browsers works properly but under Mageia is problem. When I was installed updates on MAgeia my connection stops few times. I dont know how but i looks like that this card works different in this two systems.
When I use USB cable with this card Its better but is still problem with frozen connection (it stops from time to time) and there is problem with range.
3. Under windows internet surfing is very fast and connection speed is ok.
