Mageia3 boot crash without lan connection

Mageia3 boot crash without lan connection

Postby arelatensis » Jun 3rd, '13, 14:07

Hi all.
After i installed Mageia3 only first boot was entirely successful. In that time I set up DSL/PPPoE connection. All run OK, when I have LAN cable plugged in. But When I make a boot without this connection, offline, the boot process is stopped with this last line in log:

"failed to start Network Manager Wait Online
see "systemctl status NetworkManager-wait-onlain-service"

Machine is notebook Lenovo G450, so it often stays offline.
Thanks.

How long have you waited when it stops booting? It should eventually time out and continue to boot. It might be a couple minutes. Then you could check the status and logs to see what config causes the hang.

Did you use networkmanager to set up the connection? If not, you may want to disable it, sometimes the system loads multiple network control systems that can interfere with one another.

At the final step of configuring this connection, maybe you checked "Start the connection at boot". Is that the case?

I waited up to 10 minutes or more :(

I didn't network-manager, but traditional drakx-net.

Yes, I made disable @controlled bu Network Manager, option. I know this problem conflicts multiple network control systems, and had experienced it in all Mandriva's forks. For me network-manager never works neither in Mageia nor Rosa? usually i simply made remove of NM.

No, not at this time, because installation was made in notebook. And it is cause because i retained NM. Usually I do so. I did so on my desktop with Mageia 2 and only one connection type.
