Hi folks,
Since support for Mageia 1 is soon to be discontinued, I figured I'd better try to get upgraded to v2. I tried before but lost networking then as well, so I was putting it off. Tried searching the board, but no related issues came up.
Network Center shows that I have an Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet Pro 100. It appears as though this hardware uses the 'e100' driver. /var/log/messages indicates that the kernel is failing to load the driver:
'e100 0000:02:0c.0: eth0: Failed to load firmware "e100/d102e_ucode.bin": -2'
But `lsmod` seems to be showing that it at least the module is loaded with a size of 36017, used by: 0.
`modinfo` tells me the driver filename is:
/lib/modules/3.3.6-desktop-2.mga2/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e100.ko.xz
That file does exist; dated May 17, 2012, size: 16412. But there is no 'e100' directory as there appear to be for other Intel drivers -- if that makes any difference.
I am at a loss as to how to determine why the firmware will not load -- and what to do to fix this and get my work-a-day machine back online.
Please help. Thank you.
