IPW2200 "Unable to find network interface"

Ok, so I downloaded the Mageia 2 DVD iso because I wanted to install LXDE without another desktop environment involved. Everything went well. I received information on the installation that my wireless drivers weren't installed, I could either go to Sourceforge and download them from there or use Mageia's non-free repositories.

I initially installed from Sourceforge and got a little frustrated because there were multiple firmware versions and i worked from the latest firmware backwards and none of them were working. So i removed those files and decided to access the non-free repository source from Mageia's control panel. Once I activated that and went back into the software manager, I searched and found the IPW2200 firmware drivers. I've installed those and went back into Networking to set up a new network so that i could use my laptop through wifi.

Everything goes great, I select wireless from the options, then my Intel Corporation PRO Wireless 2200BG [Celexico2] option but then i get a message that says

"Unable to find network interface for selected device (ipw2200 driver)" and I'm a little confused as to what to do about it. I only run linux and I've always liked Mageia but installing it on this laptop has been a little annoying. So any help would be appreciated :)

There is a bug report about the same driver, but I'm not sure it is the same issue.

https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6958

However, it won't hurt to try the solution that helped there :)

I have the same network card in a laptop, it already worked fine with Mageia 1 and cauldron, but I just tried it on the Mga2LXDE partition I have there, too. It works fine. So I'm a bit puzzled.
