[SOLVED] Wifi setup fail with Netgear WNA1100

Hello people,
Just installed Mageia 2 and trying to create a new network connection for my wireless dongle... drakconnect says: unable to find network interface for device (using ath9k_htc driver). Windows calls it a WNA1100 N150, not sure if that's the same thing (or correct). It's an Atheros ar9271 chipset apparently! Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply tom_ but I can't get online without the wireless - it's my only way to connect.

and can't you download that file from windows and then copy it on the right place in linux?

Don't think so - Windows 7 doesn't seem to see ext3/4-formatted drives?

You don't have an usb stick at hands? You cannot copy it over from the windows partition?

That's a good idea, I'll pop it on a stick and let you know what happens.

Thinking about it actually, while Windows can't see my Linux drives, Linux can see my Windows drives just fine. That was silly of me :-)

Will that do ext3/4 also? With the wireless driver downloads, the version specified in the post isn't there and the second link is broken. Am I OK to just get the latest version? The version numbers looked like Linux kernel versions and I don't know if I need to match it to whatever version Mageia 2 uses?

Yep, will also do up to ext4, using that on my windows 7 install when i need it.

Basically you only need to
download the firmware http://wireless.kernel.org/download/htc ... tc_9271.fw and put it into /llib/firmware/
or download the kernel-firmware-nonfree package from any Mageia mirror. You may also want to take a look at http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drive ... c#Firmware
