[SOLVED]Wifi setup failed, missing iwlwifi-agn-ucode package

Postby janpihlgren » Aug 10th, '12, 17:25

I'm using a Lenowo ThinkPad W701, running Mageia 2 x86-64.
Wifi-hardware: Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (Network Controler).

When I try to set up a WiFi connection I get the following message (in swedish):
Some package (iwlwifi-agn-ucode) needed, but is not accessable. This package can't be found in Mageia or in the official non-free repository.
The following component is missing: /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode

This neede packages can be downloaded from this URL:
http://intellinuxwireless.org/

I couldn't download or understand how to download the packages.

I hope someone know how to install the missing package.
Regards// Jan P

Code: Select all
root@localhost Desktop]# urpmi iwlwifi-agn-ucode

installing iwlwifi-agn-ucode-20120421-3.mga2.nonfree.noarch.rpm from /var/cache/urpmi/rpms
Preparing...                     ##############################################################################################################
      1/1: iwlwifi-agn-ucode     ##############################################################################################################

if you have the non-free repository enabled you shouldn't have problem.
Or maybe you are using the graphic tool and you have still setted the option "GUI application only"?

The problem was that for some reason the the non-free repository wasn't in the list.
Thanks for the info.
When I updated the repository list with non-free the package was shown and I could installed it.
Once again; Thanks! :)
