Access files located on the same lan on windows 10 [Done]

Postby JJF1 » Feb 25th, '21, 18:54

I successfully upgraded from Box from 7 to 8 (Bravo to Mageia team!) with a hope that the problem described lateron will disappear.
I am unable to access files From this Box residing on a Windows 10 PC on the same lan both from Mageia (7 or) 8. ( I could access this PC from Mageia 6).
The current local system is: Mageai 8 Cinnamon DT, EFI , dual boot and dual monitors residing on a 240G SSD where the second OS is windows 10.
Firewall is disabled via MCC
On the same lan, Windows 10 is running an HP laptop. Remote access is enabled and files can be accessed (if I boot my Box from Windows 10).
There is a network icon on the desktop and there is a network entry in the file manager, both open the same window shown in the attached image.
If I click the left icon, I can see files in my Box. I I click the right icon I get the massage as shown in the attached image . This massage is new since I upgraded to Mageia 8. I do not know what should be the correct entry.
Question: How could I access the Windows 10 PC from the file manager "network" entry.
Please advise

Enable the functions marked in yellow for windows-10
Deselect the permission to index files.
Share a folder. For starters, no password.
Mageia-7 install and configure SAMBA, share a folder.
You must have the same workgroup on all computers.

Thank mirej.
"Enable the functions marked in yellow for windows-10" Already enabled
Deselect the permission to index files.
"Share a folder. For starters, no password." Already shared
"Mageia-7 install and configure SAMBA, share a folder." Already installed and shared
"You must have the same workgroup on all computers." Same workgroup

All conditions you suggested have been met before I posted my request.
That did not help

Check the settings marked in yellow for file and printer sharing.
Mageia-7. You have open ports for SMB in the Firewall.

Too many iterations to be reported (smb.conf, smbclient, net, etc.) before I got the solution

If you have entered a name for workgroup, user, and shared folder, the Two Win-10 Computers in the LAN should see each other.
Mageia-7. Do you have smb.conf configured?
Question: How could I access the Windows 10 PC from the file manager "network" entry.

Access to shared resources in Magei-7 and Win-10 use file manager, network icon, your workgroup name, computer name (netbios name), shared folder.
Mageia-7
Use the command as root
testparm
Code: Select all
[root@localhost user-name]# testparm

Show what the console displayed?
