Hi there, some more details would be helpful.
What Mageia release is this about, is this a fresh installation or an upgrade, what media did you use for installation and does that also happen for a newly created user?
Also, are you only missing the "Remote" / "Network" section in the Places panel or is the places panel not there at all ?

Might be this bugreport: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24027

Hi, I have an updated system to date (Mageia 7). I've recently (a month ago) upgraded from 6.
I've upgraded using the procedure of wiping the old mirrors and adding the mirrors for 7 from the web.
I have checked and the Remote/Network panel is not hidden.
"Places" is there showing the partitions.
I have "Devices" and "Search for" shown, "Recently Saved" hidden.
I have tried in x2go and directly. It's the same.
Another weird thing I've noticed: samba mounts without errors, but no files are visible, neither shares in smb4k appear. I see no error.
Samba services are working.
I did not create a user yet.

No, that bug is about existing users having the issue, whereas it works normally for freshly created users. So your issue is different.

What happens if you remove (rpm -e --nodeps task-plasma5) task-plasma5 if it is installed, and then reinstall it aftwards via urpmi task-plasma5 ?
Does it want to install additional dependencies ?

Code: Select all
urpmi task-plasma5
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
  Package                        Version      Release       Arch
(medium "Core Release")
  kruler                         19.04.0      1.mga7        x86_64  (recommended)
  kruler-handbook                19.04.0      1.mga7        noarch  (recommended)
  task-plasma5                   5.15.4       1.mga7        noarch

No fix...
